POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Director, Technical Operations, plays a key role in the overall technical operations and the launch of Parallel Ads® (PADS) perimeter advertising across the US and South America.  

The Senior Director, Technical Operations is responsible for ensuring the smooth technical delivery TGI’s perimeter adverting technology (LED, PADS and other digital offerings) in the United States.  This position will manage all technical hardware inventory, incl. maintenance and repairs to ensure that all technical hardware and accompanying components are prepared and ready for each live event.  The Senior Director, Technical Operations will also collect and verify the technical specifications and collaborate with existing/potential clients to ensure that the correct technical infrastructure and supplies are provided at each respective venue.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the technical leader for TGI in the USA and South America for LED, Parallel Ads® and virtual technology
  • Closely monitor and manage the technical hardware inventory in the US using the company’s internal business system (ERP).
  • Responsible for overseeing, servicing, maintaining, testing and preparing technical hardware including all accompanying components 
  • Ensure the correct hardware (including additional components) is deployed from the technical hub to the respective venues
  • Responsible for in depth understanding of TGI’s technical power requirements and software capabilities, in regards of TGI’s rental and fixed assets 
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders 
  • Ensure TGI’s SOP’s are being followed, are up to date and evolve as required as new technologies come to light
  • Recruit, train and support onsite technical staff to increase TGI’s pool of highly trained external technical staff so the company can scale up quickly to service large-scale events in the US
  • Manage the performance of onsite technical staff and propose decisive action where needed
  • Verify technical specifications provided from each of the venues
  • Source and secure cost projections for technical equipment
  • Provide onsite operations support and conduct site surveys as needed in the US and document each venue using the TGI Venue Report tool to maintain a clear and accurate overview for the project team
  • Review and verify internal reporting documentation and work with Senior Director, Operations to compile all necessary technical presentation and documentation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in technical operations for large-scale events in the Sports and Entertainment Industry, ideally with LED Perimeter Signage (A positive if the experience is in a new subsidiary or a rapid-growth environment)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present & influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, solutions minded and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, remain agile and work efficiently within a fluctuating and fast-paced work environment
  • Exemplary attention to detail as well as superior organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver training presentations for large groups of technical staff
  • Previous experience with LED and/or virtual advertising.  Deep knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or Apple Keynote). Experience with Oracle NetSuite, or similar ERP system is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Knowledge of Spanish language, a plus
  • Well versed in negotiating supplier contracts and managing multiple stakeholders simultaneously 
  • Team player with a proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects and personnel 
  • Service- minded individual with the ability to swiftly make scheduling or other operational adjustments as needed

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Senior Director of Technical Operations will split time between the TGI main office in Chicago, IL  and TGI Warehouse located in Bridgeview, IL.  In addition to Monday-Friday work hours, there will be 

times when you will be required to work some weekends and evenings according to the event calendar.  Personal time-off should be planned around heavy periods of event activity and pre-approved by direct supervisor.  Frequent overnight travel (about two weeks per month) to offsite client and event locations is required.  Travel up to 50% of time.
